Fletcher ~ Louis D. Brown, 78, of Oakbrook Road, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 2, 2002 at his residence after an extended illness.

Mr. Brown was a native of Aberdine, GA and had lived in Buncombe County most of his life. He was a son of the late Davis and Ella Singleton Brown. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Clara Brown and a brother, Edward Brown.

Mr. Brown was a former employee of ABF for 17 years and was the owner and operator of Brown's Pottery. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received a number of medals.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Butler Brown; two sons, Charles Brown, and his wife Jeanette, of Arden and Robert Brown, and his wife Johanna, of Eureka, MT; four grandchildren, Stefeni, Christian and Charlie Brown of Arden and Lisena Brown of Eureka, MT; two sisters, Dorothy Wood and Ruth Davis, both of Atlanta, GA.

A graveside service was conducted Sunday, May 5, 2002, at 3:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Cecil Robinson and Rev. Jim Carrigan officiating.

The family received friends Saturday from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.

A memorial service will be held at 7:30 pm Tuesday, May 21, 2002 in the Mt. Zion baptist Church.
