Louise Bright Lanning

Asheville- Louise Bright Lanning, 91, of 1617 Hendersonville Road, died Saturday, April 1, in an Asheville health care facility. A native of McDowell County, she was daughter of the late Erastus Rouley and Sadie Conley Reid Bright and was the wife of the late Waldo Lanning. Mrs. Bright was a bookkeeper with John Carroll and Company. She was a member of Kenilworth Presbyterian Church where she had been an elder and a member of the choir. She was a charter member of the Widowed Person’s Services. Surviving is a foster daughter, Nancy Dupont of Boca Raton, Fla.; sister, Virginia B. Todd of Little Rock, Ark.; four nieces, June Baird, Sherry Copeland, Gwynn DeKay and Sally Britt and two nephews, Harold Bright and Joe Bright. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday at Kenilworth Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John David Stewart officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 pm Monday at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian where Mrs. Lanning will remain until being placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the services.
