The Journey:
Louise was born in Asheville, NC on May 25, 1935, the oldest of seven children born to Grady and Orphia Pinkerton.
She gave her heart to the Lord Jesus at age 13 at Biltmore Baptist Church and was reborn into the family of God. At age 15, she began her working career by working as a nurse’s assistance to the nuns at St. Joseph Hospital in Asheville, NC.
She attended Biltmore High School, where she graduated Valedictorian. She lived with her family of 5 brothers and 1 sister in a log cabin in Biltmore until marriage. At 18, she married H. B. Stroup, Jr. and raised a family in West Asheville. They were married 65 years.
She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church for 50 years, then helped plant North Point Baptist in Weaverville until they retired in 2017 to Greenville, S.C. where she joined Edwards Road Baptist Church.
Besides taking a few years off to raise her children, she worked at Stroup Sheet Metal Works, a family business providing roofing and air conditioning services. She retired as the bookkeeper and treasurer. She was a trained Red Cross Instructor and led safety courses for the employees at work.
Her passions were her family (children, grandchildren and great grand-children), her yard and plants, watching “her” birds, ballroom dancing, sewing and needlepoint.
She loved her West Asheville Garden Club, West Asheville Baptist Friendship Sunday School ladies class and her Stroup-Rincon Sunday School ladies class at Edwards Road Baptist in Greenville, SC. where she was a member.
She taught youth at West Asheville Baptist for years and was a mighty prayer warrior for all she touched. She loved to sing and laugh and was a long time choir member at West Asheville Baptist.
She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and encouraged 3 of “her boys” to achieve Eagle Scout including her own son.

Shan and Dick,
I am very sorry for the loss of your Mother. Louise loved you very much and was very proud of you both. She and Mr. Stroup did a great job as parents.
Louise was a big part of my life when I worked at Stroup Sheet Metal. She and Mr. Stroup taught me so much in my time there. Louise was like a second mother to me and I appreciate her mentorship of me.
Reading her obituary was very inspiring.
She’s in Heaven now with Mr. Stroup playing a round of golf. What a day that will be when we’re reunited with our loved ones but most of all Jesus.
Praying for your comfort.
Kathy Hipps
