Lucille E. Boettcher, 73, passed on August 15, 2012 after a long illness. Born Lucille Jane Eaton on October 14, 1938 in Buffalo, New York, she received her undergraduate degree from Milwaukee Downer College. Lucille was a long-time resident of the Asheville area where she will be remembered by many for her energy and dedication to education. Mrs. Boettcher taught 8th grade mathematics for years at Valley Springs Middle School and then transferred that energy to support the teachers of Buncombe County Schools as a computer technology coordinator. She touched the lives of many young women with her enthusiasm, creativity and friendship through Girl Scouts. Lucille is survived by her husband Clifford Boettcher of Arden, son Todd Boettcher of Arden, daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth and Douglas Yerkes of Chicago, Illinois and three beloved grandchildren William, Aidan and Margaret.   1. Mrs Boettcher was the biggest influence in my life as my Girl Scout Leader during middle school. She taught me many skills, increased my confidence, and helped make me who I am. The world was lucky to have her. My love goes out to Mr Boettcher, Todd and Elizabeth. Dee Dee

  4. I am so saddened to hear of Mrs.Boettcher’s passing. She influenced me throughout my life: as an algebra teacher in 8th grade, a friend’s mom, band mom, and as a technology teacher and support person when I became a teacher. She will truly be missed and always respected. Elizabeth, Todd, and Mr. Boettcher you will remain in my prayers.

  5. Some of my fondest girl scout memories are the years that I spent with Mrs. Boettcher as my scout leader. She was a lovely person and I’m so sorry to hear of her passing. She touched many young lives in such a positive and caring way and will be missed.

  6. Lucille Boettcher was the heart and soul of computer technology at Buncombe County schools for many years. She spent countless hours helping teachers integrate computer instruction into the classroom. Through her patience and guidance, many teachers received a strong foundation in computer technology which they passed on to their students. She will forever hold a place of importance in Buncombe County Schools. I truly am grateful to have been able to work with Lucille Boettcher. My sympathy goes out to her family.

We have many fond memories to cherish of Lucille… from our days at Milwaukee-Downer College, college reunions, and during our married lives. Our hearts go out to you at this difficult time, and can only pray that you now have peace and super memories after a long difficult trial.
