Hendersonville ~ Lucille Parton Huffstetler, 71, of Elden St. died Wednesday, January 23, 2002 in a local hospital.

A native of Bryson City, Mrs. Huffstetler was the daughter of the late James E. and Bertie Mae Wiggins Parton and the wife of the late William E. Huffstetler, Sr. who died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by a son, Henry A.

Mrs. Huffstetler worked as a lunch room employee of the Asheville City School system for seventeen years and was a member of the Stoney Mountain Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.

Survivors include four daughters, Pam Whiteside of Fairview, Diane Laird and Sherrie Reyes, both of Hendersonville and Susan Smith of Vermont; five sons, James W. Parton of Brevard, William E. Huffstetler, Jr. of Orlando, FL, Jerry W. Huffstetler of Hendersonville, David Huffstetler of Asheville and Johnny Huffstetler of North Dakota; one sister, Christine Sheppard of Greenville, SC; four brothers, James E. Parton, Jr. of Asheville, Tommy Parton of Candler, Richard Parton of Greenville, SC and Jerry Parton of Louisville, KY; eighteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM at Stoney Mountain Baptist Church on Highway 25 North with Reverends Charles Rogers and Thomas Glenn officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Fairview. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 PM at the church.
