Lucy Meadows Johnson

Lucy Mae Vickers Meadows Johnson, 75, of 95 Holcombe Cove Road, Candler, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Pisgah Manor Nursing Home. A resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Pauline Stamey Rector Vickers. She was also preceded in death by her husband James Bernard Meadows who died in 1999 and a son, Leroy Meadows. She was retired from Dixie Yarns in Gastonia after 22 years of service and attended Cedar Hill Baptist Church in Alexander. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Morrison, and her husband JR, of Lincolnton, Betty Price, and her husband Clyde, of Leicester and Delores Pruett of Asheville; a step-daughter, Bonnie Mae Collins; four step-sons, Charlie, Herschel, Don and Larry Meadows; two brothers, Clyde Vickers of Marion and Johnny Vickers of Charlotte; a half-sister, Judy Presnell; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend David Brigman officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
