Lula McElrath Rash, 95, of 260 Troy McElrath Road, Tyro Community, Thomasville, formerly of Candler, NC, died Friday, October 17, 2003. Mrs. Rash was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Perry F. and Savannah Warren McElrath. She was married for 62 years to Lee Roy Rash who died in 1993, and was also preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Smith, and two brothers, Melton and Otis McElrath. She was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Rash moved to Davidson County in 1994 where she attended Freedom Baptist Church. Surviving are a sister, Effie Kivette and two brothers, Lloyd D. McElrath and Troy O. McElrath, all of Lexington, and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 11:00 am Monday at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Candler, with the Rev. Clyde Akers officiating. Memorials may be made to Pole Creek Baptist Church, 96 Snow Hill Church Road, Candler, NC 28715, or to Freedom Baptist Church, PO Box 1242, Lexington, NC 27293.

  2. I was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church(1937 – 1957). I knew Lula to be a fine Christian Lady. My Grandfather Stanley and Lula Grandfather were brothers. May God be with the family. Carroll

  4. I lived across the street from Lula on Hookers Gap Road. When I was little I would go over to Lula’s house and watch TV and I have always had fond memories of her.
