Lura Lee Banks Corn, 88, of Asheville, died Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at the John F. Keever Solace Center. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late S.J. and Malinda Lundsford Banks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, T.W. Corn, Jr., sister Edna Stowe, and brothers Ernest, Manual, Benny, and Howard Banks. Mrs. Corn was a graduate of West Buncombe High School and Blanton's Business College. She retired from Sears in the Auditing Department. She was a lifelong member of Victory Baptist Church, and was a member of the Sunshine Club. Mrs. Corn is survived by her son, Pete Corn and wife Dixie; grandchildren, Kelly and Adam; sister, Barbara Phillips and husband Howard; brothers, Dewey Banks and wife Barbara and Jackie Banks and wife Judy; sister-in-law Carolyn Banks; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday at Victory Baptist Church, with the Revs. Mark Chase and Larry Sprinkle officiating. Interment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Victory Baptist Church Meal Program, 80 Olivette Rd., Asheville, NC 28804. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

  8. Pete, I last saw Lee at Ingles. We always stopped and had a conversation.It was always about her or me. Last time, she had had her eyes operated on and she was feeling great. She said she had to go back to the doctor to find out the details.
    She was laughing that beautiful laugh of hers. I will always remember Lee- as she was that day. I loved her and our conversations.
