Mae Greene Long, 92, of Asheville, died Friday, September 8, 2017. A native of Hancock Co., TN, Mae was a daughter of the late John Henry Greene and Bonnie Marie Carter Greene Crowder. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wesley Long, brothers Lawrence Greene, Charles Greene, Robert Greene, and sisters Betty Powers, Easter Plemmons, Mary Ruth Hamilton, Johnie Parker, and Margaret Lloyd. Mrs. Long formerly worked for the FBI and American Enka. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughter, Lisa Long of Asheville; sons, Stephen Long, Charles Long and wife Deborah, Gary Long and wife Pamela, all of Asheville, and Alan Long and wife Donna of Marion; 7 grandchildren; and sisters Bobbie McLewan, Ellen Pike, Ann Garrett, and Martha Cooper. Funeral services for Mrs. Long will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dr. Stan Welch and the Rev. Tony Hooper officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Asheville Baptist Church, 926 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.

  2. I know my Aunt Mae was not the best of health the last years. She now has a new body and in the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ. I have many great memories of her and her family. We will praying for her family and I know that God’s Grace is sufficient .

Growing up,we always lived so close to Mama (Grandmother) and I will always remember all the younger brothers and sisters saying ‘we need to ask Mae’. I look forward to seeing her again and asking her a few questions! Love to you all.
