Mae Smathers Boone, 91, of Candler, died Monday, January 22, 2018, at Mission Hospital.
A native of Buncombe Co., Mae was a daughter of the late J.G. and Lillie Cogburn Smathers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eddie A. Boone, who died in 2002, and by seven siblings. She was a 1945 graduate of Candler High School and formerly worked at Vanderbilt Shirt Company, Mills Mfg. Co, and retired from BASF.
Mae was a member of White Rock Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Samaritan Pathfinders Sunday School class.
Surviving are her sister, Geraldine Britt, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mrs. Boone will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at White Rock Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Piney Mountain United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Rock Baptist Church, PO Box 1277, Candler, NC 28715.
