Marcia Lynn Ruby

marcia ruby
Arden – Marcia Lynn (Mitchell) Ruby, 59, was given her angels wings on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, after a nearly lifelong battle with MS. Born October 17, 1952, Marcia had been an active, beautiful young woman. She was a talented pianist and artist; intelligent, funny and creative. She was also vivacious and a force to be reckoned with. Preceding her in death is her beloved father, Herbert H. Mitchell, Jr. Surviving Marcia are her two greatest joys in life; her daughter, Lori Ruby and precious granddaughter, Courtney. She is survived by her devoted mother, Sadie Mitchell, who tirelessly cared for Marcia in her home for more than twenty-five years. The bond between Marcia and Sadie was inspiring and unbreakable. Also surviving are three brothers; Jimmy Mitchell, Tom Mitchell (wife, DeeDee) and Mark Mitchell (wife, Judy) and a sister, Kaye Horrell (husband, Gene) along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and her constant guardian, Maddie. A graveside service is planned for 1:00 PM, Friday, July 13, 2012 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Candler, NC. The Reverend James R. Lamb will officiate. Members of the Medical Emergency Ambulance MEDIC team will serve as pallbearers and will transport Marcia to her final resting place. The family has called on these fine professionals over the years to care for and transport Marcia and it is an honor to have them carry her one final time. The family extends a special thank you to the Tolley family and to the John F. Keever Solace Center. The family will receive friends at the Mitchell home after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Marcia Ruby Foundation at any Suntrust Bank or mail to P.O. Box 177, Arden, NC 28704. Funds will go towards various expenses and the purchase of a permanent memorial to be selected at a later date.
