MARGARET ELIZABETH "LIZ" STEWART - ASHEVILLE Margaret Elizabeth "Liz" Stewart, 79, of Asheville, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 2, 2010 at her home after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was a faithful member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Mary Jane Lunsford Stewart; and brothers, Henry and Arnold Stewart. She is survived by sisters Katherine Miller and Patricia Buckner and her husband Bill of Asheville and Florence Yarbrough of Bennetsville, SC; brothers Charles Stewart and his wife Louise of Brevard and James Stewart and his wife Josie of Asheville and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Liz was a very loving, compassionate and kind hearted person who loved all things in life and always found a positive in everything. She leaves behind precious and fond memories and will be greatly missed but she will live on in our hearts forever. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to John F. Keever Hospice and CarePartners staff for all of their loving care they gave to Liz and the family. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. with Reverend Don Penland officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

  4. So sorry for your loss. Liz was always such a kind and loving person. She fought such a courageous battle. I will never forget even as a little girl, I thought she was so beautiful and had the prettiest eyes that I have ever seen. She will be missed.
