Margaret “Peggy” Scheiner passed away peacefully on June 13, 2023 under Hospice care at the Deerfield skilled nursing facility after receiving a Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer diagnosis in mid-May. She spent her last days embraced by the love of family and friends.
Born in Greenwich, CT on October 26, 1941, she was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Edward Feighery.
Peggy spent her early career teaching in the New York City Public Schools system, followed by years focusing on her family and volunteering at her church, and eventually entered her second career as Religious Education Director at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church in Selden, NY.
Upon moving from Long Island, NY to Asheville, NC, Peggy became a member of St. Eugene Catholic Church, during which time she participated in a number of groups that brought purpose and meaning to her life. In Asheville, along with her husband Jerry, Peggy found joy in living near her two children and her only grandchild. Peggy also enjoyed the many restaurants of Asheville with Jerry and their friends, and spent winters in Naples, FL, reuniting with old friends and hosting visiting friends and family members.
Peggy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry Scheiner; her son, Evan Scheiner; her daughter, Alison Scheiner-Dendy, son-in-law, Hunter Dendy, and granddaughter, Ava Dendy; her brother, Ed Feighery and sister-in-law Christine Feighery; and many special nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends whom she held dear.
Peggy will be remembered for the love that she shared as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, as well as for her strong sense of faith, her love for reminiscing, and for her care, generosity, and kindness toward others.

Roy and I spent many family bbq’s over the years with Peggy and Jerry. Our favorite times spent were on Thanksgiving Day when Peggy and Jerry had about 30 family members for dinner. It was a warm, loving wonderful time.

I will miss my dear friend Peggy she was kind friendly and just an all around lovely person. My late wife Pat and I have so many memories vacations, dinners and just talking for hours with Peggy and Jerry she was a true treasure.
Aunt Peggy was such a genuine, lovely person. You could talk to her about anything, she was always willing to listen and offer advice if needed. I enjoyed seeing her and Uncle Jerry, I will miss her! Love, Ann
Peggy (and your family) are such an important part of the Tebbutt family history. I have wonderful memories of our trips to Lake Sunapee and she always treated me and then my own children like part of your family. My prayers are with all of you.
