Margaret Rowena Thompson Massie, 84, of 77
Beaverdam Loop, Candler, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at the Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.
Mrs. Massie was born in Buncombe County and was a
daughter of the late Lon R. and Shirley Rutherford Thompson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dewitt (C.D.)
Massie who died March 6, 1968, and by her son, Jimmy Lee Massie, who died November 29, 1976. She was retired from American Enka/BASF and was a member of Reeves Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Sheila M. Plemmons of Candler, Rowena M. Brown of Kernersville, Michael L. Massie of Candler and Michelle M. Rout of Mt. Airy; nine great-grandchildren, including Stacy Plemmons of the
home and her sons, Mrs. Massie’s two great-great-grandchildren, Dakota and Nicholas; a sister, Nancy Waugh of Asheville and a brother, Cecil
Thompson of Asheville.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 pm Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Plemmons officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service
I was sad to see Aunt Margare4t go, but I know she is at peace now.
We were very sorry to learn of Margaret’s passing. We regret that we won’t be able to attend the services but please know that our thoughts are with you all.
