Margaret Sue Ferguson Williams

Margaret Sue Ferguson Williams, 97, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Silver Bluff Village, Canton.

Born in Haywood Co., Margaret was a daughter of the late Andrew and Ida Mae McElroy Ferguson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Eugene Williams; her daughter, Nancy Jane Penland; five sisters, Sarah Greene, Betty Moody, Bennie Underwood, Annette Best and Ruth Presnell; and three brothers, John, Charles and Carlyle Ferguson.

Margaret worked at American Enka in the quality control department for more than 30 years. In her free time, she enjoyed mowing the yard, various crafts, and spending time with her family. She was funny and mischievous.

She is survived by a son, Jim Plemmons (Vicki); son-in-law, Doug Penland; three sisters, Helen Davis (Lawrence), Irene Noland (Joe) and Maxine Bradshaw (Jimmy); five grandchildren, Roger Ballew (Troy), David Ballew, Sondra Struble (Christopher), Angela Plemmons (Rusty) and Jeremy Plemmons; 10 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Her family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 7, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
