Margie Lucile Pool Hagan, 82, of New Leicester Highway, died Wednesday, November 14, 2001, at a local nursing home. A native of McDowell County, she was a daughter of the late Clarence M. and Nellie Noblitt Pool. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Clay Carter, who died in action in Belgium during WWII. She was the owner of Carter Lumber Co. and an income tax and accounting business, a builder and owner/manager of rental properties. She also served as treasurer of Dix Creek Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member. She is survived by her husband, James D. Hagan; one son, Richard Edward Carter of Asheville; one daughter, Joanne C. Gunter of Asheville; five brothers, James C. Pool, C. W. Pool, H. Theodore Pool, Boyce F. Pool and Tommy R. Pool all of Marion; six sisters, Marie Robinson, Ruth Staton, Judy Davis and Louise Young, all of Marion, Frances King of Hendersonville and Esther Randolph of Dunwoody, GA. and one grandson, Eric Shaw McGee of Charlotte. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Reverend Fred Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:30 Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Dix Creek Chapel United Methodist Church, % Fred Carpenter, 2195 New Leicester Highway, Asheville, NC 28806.
