Marguerite Hicks Magruder, 81, of 115 Bear Creek Rd., Asheville, died Sunday, January 7, 2001 in a local nursing facility. A native of Macon GA, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Luther and Esther Franklin Hicks. She was also preceded in death by a son Thomas E. Magruder. She had lived most of her life in the Asheville area and was a retired employee of Ivey’s. Mrs. Magruder was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church along with the Bond-Sales- Hyatt Bible Class; the Reach Out Circle and United Methodist Women. She is survived by her husband, Edwin F. Magruder; two sons, John Michael Magruder and Greg Magruder and his wife Janet, and a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Magruder all of Asheville. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Reverend Ralph L. Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery with pallbearers being Guy Morris, Orba Smith, Don Hall, Bill Milholen, JD Jennings and David Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Bond-Sales-Hyatt Bible Class. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 587 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
