Maria Montserrat “Montse” Miranda, 33, of Salt Lake City, UT, but native of Asheville, NC, was born on April 8, 1991 and sadly passed away too soon on September 14, 2024.

Montse was known for always being strong in her faith, friendly and kind to everyone, loving so fiercely and unapologetically and worrying about everyone before herself. Montse never met a stranger, only new friends. You weren’t able to meet Montse without falling in love with her. She was truly loved by so many friends and family who will remember her contagious smile, her quick wit and incredible sense of humor.

Montse graduated from Enka High School in 2010, and then followed up with studies at the University of North Carolina in Asheville and Salt Lake City Community College. She happily worked at the University of Utah Hospital with her loyal colleagues.

Montse was devoted to her family and is survived by her mother, Elba Miranda; sisters and their husbands, Judy Miranda and Elizabeth Summers; brothers and their wives, Humberto Miranda, Ricardo Leon, Luis Leon, Lorenzo Leon and Marco Leon; her nephew, Maddox Reid; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins who will miss her terribly. She enjoyed listening to music, watching her classic shows and movies, spending time with Lemon, her basset hound, and enjoying any time she could with family.

Montse’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life on Friday, November 1, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home, 1401 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC, 28806. A livestream of the service will be broadcast on this page beginning shortly before 3:00 p.m.

  1. Montse was the kindest person on this earth and now I have no doubt she is the biggest angel in heaven. Thank you Montse for all that you taught everyone around you.

  2. Montse exuded love and joy in everything she did. I loved speaking with her. She is very missed but remembered in love. I am sure she is smiling down on us!

  3. Montse was an amazing friend and a great coworker, always so cheerful. I loved our get togethers we always had so much to talk about. She is truly missed down here with us, but I know heaven has gained a great angel. Till we meet again sis.

  4. I had the privilege of assisting with Monste’s new hire training class at the University of Utah. From our very first interaction, her delightful and energetic presence was evident. Monste always greeted everyone with a warm smile and kind words. I will deeply miss our engaging conversations, her expressive emojis, and her wonderful sense of humor. May she fly high with the angels.

  5. Montse was truly a shining light and had infectious joy that she shared with everyone around her. She made my days better and I miss her!

  6. I will be forever grateful for the short time I had Montse in my life. She truly was the kindest sweetest soul and it shined through in every interaction. Whenever I see Lucy now it makes me think of Montse and the wonderful she shared her love of Lucy and Donny Osmond with me and everyone around her
