Marie M. Maynard, 90, formerly of Moody Rd., Asheville, died on Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Becky's Rest Home. A native of Madison Co., Mrs. Maynard was the daughter of the late Geter and Vera Davis Robinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Maynard; and by a son, Phil Hawkins. Mrs. Maynard was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Earline Jordan Sunday School class. She is survived by her sons, Cecil Hawkins and wife Helen, of Fairview, and Don Hawkins and wife Anita, of Asheville; step-son, Lewis Maynard, Jr., and wife Larine; three granddaughters, Pam, Lisa, and Sonya; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service for Mrs. Maynard will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Her family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service. Her family gives special thanks to the staff and employees of Becky's Rest Home for all of the love and care that they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Starnes Cove Baptist Church Building Fund, 149 Starnes Cove Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
