Marilyn Lester

MARILYN M. LESTER Marilyn Moore Lester, 60, formerly of Asheville, died Friday, December 7, 2007, in Charlotte following an extended illness. Miss Lester was born in Asheville and was a daughter of the late William Hugh Lester, Sr. and Nina Moore Lester Walsh. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Hugh Lester, Jr. Marilyn was a 1965 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School, Asheville, and received her degree in Business from UNC in 1969. She worked as a divisional merchandise administrator with Belk Charlotte Group until 1989. She was a member of Leadership Charlotte – Class 8. She is survived by her step-father, Ben R. Walsh of Asheville; her aunt, Edith L. Uhl of Lexington, KY, and her daughters, Barbara and Carolyn; her uncle Clarkson Lester of Avon Park, FL; cousins, Bob Lester and his wife, Harolyn, of Cramerton, NC, their son, Jon Lester and his wife, Jennifer, and their two daughters, Sydney and Avery. In lieu of flowers, Marilyn wanted charitable contributions made to The Community Foundation for WNC (for the “Lester Scholarship Fund”), PO Box 1888, Asheville, NC 28802. This is a fund she established to provide scholarships for Asheville High School graduates.
