Mrs. Candler was born in Del Rio, TN, and was a daughter of the late Wiley H. and Mary Alice Brandon Self. She was married to the late Clarence Riley Candler and she was a member of West Asheville Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Randall of Asheville; two sons, Buddy Candler of Braselton, GA and Tim Candler of Asheville; two sisters, Edith Barrett of Del Rio, TN and Louise Beatty of Gastonia; three brothers, Marvin Self of Connecticut, and Robert Self and Keith Self of Newport, TN; six grandchildren, Doug, Cynthia, Dustin, Amanda and Michael Candler and Jill Hudson, and one great-granddaughter, Marissa Hudson.
A memorial service will be 5:30 pm Monday at in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. John Odom officiating.
Her family will receive friends immediately following the service.

She was a very good MOM to us and there were times we didn,t deserve for her to be but she was always there when it counted until the very end . Thanks Mom

Hello Nanny I just wanted to say that Sissa and I will miss you and say hello to Grandaddy ,Mike and Bill! I guess you will be on this damn computer after all!:)
You will be missed very much and sorry that we had such a rough time these past couple of months but atleast it is all over and you don’t have to worry about all
the medicine anymore…..Oh and you now have that new body you have been you always wanted. And try not to be too hard on your sister..ha ha and don’t worry about
Ralph he is with his buddy now. And remember we will always miss you and that you are never far from our thoughts and especially our hearts! And no more aches and
pains you now will have that new body forever and you will be forever young!!!!!!
