Mark Theron Ledford

Mr. Ledford was a native of Haywood County and was a son of Robert E. and Ann Ward Ledford of Clyde.  He received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from NC State University and was president of Ledford Engineering, Inc.

He was a member of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity and was past-president of the Western Chapter of PENC.  He coached Little League football, the Termites, Hominy Valley Youth League.  He was also a member of First Baptist Church of Asheville, the Fellowship Sunday School Class.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Ledford is survived by his wife, Lisa Poplin Ledford;  two sons, Phillip Ryan Ledford and Joseph Patrick Ledford, both of the home;  two brothers and sister-in-law, Andrew and Lucinda Ledford of Canton and Matthew Ledford of California;  and a nephew, Isaac Ledford.  He was the son-in-law of Ted and Faye Poplin of Rockingham and brother-in-law of Luanne Poplin of Mount Pleasant, SC.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday at the First Baptist Church, Asehville, with the Rev. Dr. Ron Crawford and the Revs. Gail Coulter and Eddie Morgan officiating.  Graveside rites will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Richmond Memorial Park in Rockingham.

His family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue where Mr. Ledford will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
