Martha Ann Grooms, 78, of Asheville, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016.
A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late John Wesley Hicks and Blanche Viola Rice. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Wesley Grooms, and by her sisters, Dorothy Viola McClellan, Mary Magdalene Lambert, and Frances Pauline Munro.
Mrs. Grooms is survived by her nieces, Rose Lohman Charline Munro, Robin Lambert and Rhonda Lambert; nephews, Ronald McClellan (Myra), Bobby McClellan, David Munro (Gloria), Wesley Munro (Kelly), and Terry Lambert; great-nieces and nephews, Steve McClellan, Jason McClellan, Misty MaHarry, Bryan LaClair, Benjamin Lohman, Michael Lohman, Celeste Hebert (Derrick), Michaela Morgan, Bree Knight and spouse Brittany, Kirsten and Sydney Roland, and Joe Munro and Christian Munro and several great-great-nieces & nephews whom she loved very much; and life-long friends, Debbie Lynn Nelson and Rowena Sprouse.

Dear family of Martha … I am so sorry for your loss . Martha was a
Kind and dear soul and my neighbor for over 13 years when I lived across the street from her. Although we had been out of touch for years now I’ve always held a special place in my heart for her and will miss her on our beloved Mother Earth .
I know she treasured her sweet home. If there is anything I can support your family with please let me know. Blessings to you all.

You are every memory I have ever had as a child and a adult I love you and miss you so much!
Martha was like a sister to me for over 40 years. We worked together at Ball and took our vacations together. My daughter and Michael grew up and played together from the time they were small children. We haven’t been close for the past few years because she felt so awkward about her hearing, but I will always love her. I am so sad she is gone. I would like to know what took her from us.
