Martha June Metcalf Smith, 82, of Asheville, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Fleshers of Fairview .
Born in Madison County to the late James Carl and Anna Mae Rumbough Metcalf, she retired as supervisor with RCA; was a member of Grassy Branch Baptist Church and volunteered faithfully with ABCCM.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Bon H. Smith.
Mrs. Smith is survived by daughters, Ann Cole (Stephen) of Asheville, Maria Bunn (Greg) of Clayton and Susan Blong of Dayton, TX; five grandchildren, Christy Andrews, Stacy Cole, Robert White, Jessica Davis, Bryan Dodd; and 9 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Grassy Branch Baptist Church. Rev. Ken Sausedo will officiate and entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road.

I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I will be praying for you and your family.
My condolences to the family, I had the pleasure of knowing her daughter Susie, she talked about her often while going through SCUBA lessons with me. Susie is a dear friend and I know the hurt she is going through, my heart goes out to her and her family.
Susie, so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I knkw how much you loved her and how you wished you could have been closer. She’s resting now and at peace. Losing a parent is never easy, no matter how old we get. Be thankful for the years you’ve had and gain strength and comfort in your rembrances of her.
Susie, you have my heartfelt condolences. Your mother seemed to be as caring a person as you are. You’ll be in my prayers.
Susie, so sorry for your loss. My heart hurts for you, and Sandy as well. I know she called your mom ‘Mama’ too. Adopted mom’s can be as close to us as blood relatives are. Prayers for you and her loved ones. May God’s love and comfort be yours.

Dear Susie, we are very sorry for the loss of your Mother. We pray that God will strengthen you. We were all a family of friends during our wonderful times at A.C. Reynolds High. We have good memories of cheering each other on. I know it is difficult losing one as special as your mother. May your memories of her and the special times with her fill your heart.
