Marvin Lee Hollifield

Marvin Lee Hollifield, Sr., 84, died on Friday, May 8, 2015, at the Charles George VA Medical Center. A native of Buncombe Co., Mr. Hollifield was the son of the late Robert Lee and Gladys Pike Hollifield. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Geneva Gibson Hollifield; and sister, Eva Hollifield. Mr. Hollifield was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his daughters, Anita Jenkins and husband Billy, of Bryson City, and Nancy Dowell and husband Todd, of Asheville; son, Marvin Hollifield, Jr., and wife Patricia, of Asheville; sister, Robbie Harvey; 10 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with Chaplain Wes Pike officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. Mr. Hollifield's family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
