Marvin Moore Fairview~ Marvin Moore, 81, of Old Gap Creek Road, died Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Park Ridge Hospital after a courageous three year battle with Leukemia. A native of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Willard Burgin Moore and Mollie Conner Moore and was husband of the late Elsie Morelock Moore who died in 1992. He was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Allen Moore; a granddaughter, Stephanie Owenby; and by two brothers, Garland and Floyd Moore. Marvin was also an Army veteran. Surviving is a daughter, LaVerne Gee and her husband Marc, of Hendersonville, two sons, Dean Moore and his wife Terisa, of Fairview, and Marvin Ray Moore and his wife Brenda, of Weaverville; former wife and mother of Marvin’s children, Rachel Jones of Fletcher; two sisters, Ella Spake and Ailene Freeman both of Fairview and a brother, Burgin Moore also of Fairview; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Park Ridge Hospital as well as the staff of Park Ridge Cancer and Fusion Center for their compassionate care shown towards Marvin during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the North Carolina Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association, 401 Harrison Oaks Blvd., Cary, NC 27513

  1. I will never forget Uncle Marvin and that sweetest smile. He was my papaws brother and always was like another papaw to me. He would come to my mamaw and papaws and I was little I would listen 2 him and my papaw talk about the good ole days and I just loved it. I will surely miss him and he will never be forgotten. RIP UNCLE MARVIN. U was one of a kind.

  2. Very sorry to learn of his passing. I always liked Marvin. He always treated me with respect. One of the few people I met in his area that I could never say a bad word about. Was a pleasure knowing him for such a short time. Rest in Peace.
