Mary A. Pete Israel

Mary Amalee "Pete" Israel, 89, died Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Flesher's Fairview Rest Home. Born in Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late James M. and Julia Bishop Israel and was also preceded in death by sisters, Mamie Kate Israel and Margie Galyean and brothers, Paul J. and Gordon G. Israel. She was retired from American Enka. Surviving are her brother, Walter A. "Bud" Israel (Eileen). her caregiver and niece, Glenda Galyean Johnson, a sister-in-law, Ruth Israel and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Bob Hagan officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
