Mary Ann Embler, 82, of Asheville, died at home on Friday, March 9, 2012. A native of Buncombe Co., she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Stella Reeves Embler. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Nan Jones and Louise Murray, brothers-in-law, Grover Jones and Mike Murray, and great nephews, Erik Nicodemus and Darren Seegrist. Ms. Embler retired from Southern Bell after 37 years of service. She was a member of The Pioneers, and Emma United Methodist Church. Ms. Embler is survived by a sister, Margaret Smith; nieces, Joyce Wilson (Ronnie), Nancy Rauberts, Barbara Seegrist, Terri Little (Irvin), and Diane Price (Dan); nephews, Pat Murray and Hubert Holcombe; nieces and caregivers, Mary Carol Morrison (Joe), Tonya Kelley (Tim), and Melissa Holcombe; 4 great-nieces, 4 great-nephews, and many great-great nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Revs. Steve Byron and David Warren officiating. Her family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emma United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 6921, Asheville, NC 28816.

  6. Just checked my email today. Was sorry to read about Mary Ann. My Condolence to the family. Always enjoyed working with her. She was always willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. She will be missed by her friends, family, and the church.

  7. Mary Ann’s sweet smile, her sense of wit, and her beautiful voice in the Emma Church choir are things I will always miss about this very special lady. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of grief.
