Mary Beryl Talbot Kerr, of 49 Kerr Rd., Leicester, died Monday, June 19, 2000 in a Asheville hospital. A native of Wembley, Middlesex, England, she was the daughter of the late James O. and Margaret L. Talbot. She was also preceded in death by her husband Dr. John Guthrie Kerr who died in 1985. Mrs. Kerr was a nurse and trained at the Middlesex Hospital in England and later served in WW II at Cairo, Egypt, with the British Army. She was a former officer with the Buncombe County Medical Auxiliary; past President of Aston Park Health Care Auxiliary; and a member of the Gardenier Club and the Needle Craft Club. She was also a member of the COuntry Club of Asheville. She is survived by her sons, James R. Kerr of Pennsville, NJ, T. Donald Kerr of Carrollton, TX, George M. Kerr of Leicester; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue Chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Reverend Dick Patzfahl will officiate with burial following in the Kerr Family Plot. Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 Wednesday at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Leicester Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 1001, Leicester, NC 28748.
