Mary Camp Cooper, of Asheville, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2005, at the age of 96 at an Asheville nursing facility.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Spartanburg Co., SC and was one of thirteen children of the late James and Mattie Cash Camp. She was married to the late Johnny J. Cooper.
She worked for many years at Pacific Mills in Lyman, SC and lived in Spartanburg County until moving to Asheville in 1988. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her niece Helen Turner Penland of Asheville who was her caretaker for several years; two sisters Maude Turner of Asheville and Bertha McBride of Lyman, SC; one brother Edgar Camp and his wife Inez of Inman, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 1, 2005, in Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel in Spartanburg with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Her body will lie in state at the funeral home for 30 minutes prior to the service.
