Mary Clark Lucas, was born July 8, 1929 and died April 30, 2016.
Mary was a lifelong resident of Asheville. She was a 1947 graduate of Lee Edwards High School and a member of Oak Forest Presbyterian Church. She worked in numerous occupations but finally found her niche working for the state of North Carolina in Asheville in the magistrate court.
Mary loved to do crafts such as quilting, tatting, knitting and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Greeley Clark and Sarah Rickman Clark; her brothers, Joseph Murry Clark and Lewis Morgan Clark, and her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Johnson.
Survivors include granddaughters; Anna Hair and Stephanie Brown of Sylva, NC; five great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren of Sylva, NC; sister in law Zunita Clark of Asheville; nephew, Joe Clark, Jr of Woodstock, GA and Steve Clark of Beaufort, SC and niece Susan Fullerton of Woodstock, GA and great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Green Hills Cemetery in Asheville with Reverend David Morgan officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Oak Forest Presbyterian Church at 880 Sand Hill Road in Asheville.
May the family find comfort & assurance in the Lord. Our family lost a ‘Character’.
Mary was a joy to know as she advocated for the blind. Prayers and comfort to her family, she will be missed.
