Mary Dale Crisp
Asheville – Mary Dale Crisp, 78, of Asheville, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016 surrounded by a tremendous amount of love.
A native of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Laura Martin Wright.
By her extreme will and determination, Mary was an example to all. Throughout her life she had many health issues and faced each one with a determined spirit to not let them get her down. Mary was a life long residence of Buncombe County and attended Asheville Buncombe Technical Institute while working two jobs and raising two young children. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing and was a long time employee of Mission Hospital. She worked in the Emergency Room and loved her job. She often pulled double shifts to support her family. She was the ER Nurse Manager and also served as the Assistant Director of Nursing and House Supervisor for the entire Hospital. In 1983, Mary was stricken with a brain aneurysm and was forced to retire from Nursing. Never one to rest or let her disability stop her, she worked at The Cove as much as she could and loved it. She finally retired in 2011 and spent the rest of her life loving her family. She lived with her daughter Janet for 32 years and helped in the raising of Kyle and Samantha. The family would like to thank Care Partners Hospice, Dr. James (Jim) McMillan and Dr. Will Durham for their love, help and assistance.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Janet Rebecca Crisp and her fiancé, Ricky Allen, of Asheville; one son, Dean Crisp and his wife, Kim, of Asheville; ex-husband Harold Crisp and his wife, Wanda, of Asheville; two sisters, Pat Holbert of Virginia Beach, VA and Becky Roberts of Summerville, SC; four brothers, Rev. Charles "Sonny" Wright of Newnan, GA, David Wright and Boodie Wright, both of Asheville and Phillip Wright of Skyland; four grandchildren, Adam Crisp, Andrew Crisp, Kyle Wilson and Samantha Gajdik; six great-grandchildren, Everlee Grace Kennedy Dyer, Adelyn Harper Crisp, Parker Madison Crisp, Wyatt Gabriel Wilson and identical twin girls to be born any day as well as several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 24, 2016 in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Reverend Charles "Sonny" Wright officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home from 2:00 to 3:00 PM prior to the service.
