Mary Elizabeth was my most precious and best friend, I will miss her very much! She was a mentor in so so many ways. I know where she is, she isn’t hurting and is happy. She was lovable and fun to be with, I loved her very much. Our condolences go out to family and friends. James & Brenda
I had the pleasure of living with Mary for a few weeks prior to my first year at Davidson College. The debate team was preparing for the year ahead and dorms weren’t open. Incidentally, my uncle, George Ogilvie, had worked for the Copeland’s when he was at Davidson (something I didn’t know before moving in). Mary was a warm and gracious hostess. She shared her love for Davidson, Montreat, and community history. Meals with her were wonderful, full of lively conversation. She was a character and I cherish my memories of her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family as they celebrate her life.
To the Family Of Mary Copeland,
Mary will be missed, she was so sweet and a very pleasant person. Mary always called me Mary Catherine instead of Cathy, she said Mary Catherine was to pretty to shorten to Cathy, I always enjoyed going into to her room to clean we would chat while I cleaned I will miss her a lot.
May God Bless You and Be With You in your time of sorrow.

I am sorry to hear that Mary Copeland has passed away. I remember her so well from our family’s Montreat days. I can still see her with a big smile and her short dark hair coming into our home Linger Longer. She would come visit my mother-in-law Mary Lois Craige and they were good friends.
