Mary Frances "Fran" Almon Horton

Mary Frances “Fran” Almon Horton, 73, of Asheville, NC, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Spurgeon and Isabell Wilson Almon.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Robert Horton, III and a daughter, Jennifer Horton Reed (Tim) of Gastonia, NC. Also surviving are two grandchildren; Jacob and Madison Reed, and a sister, Rebecca Almon Chatman of Newton, NC.

She worked in accounting for over 20 years for Crisp and Hughes, CPA and Mars Hill University. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. They were the “light of her life.” She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

The memorial service is planned for Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home on Tunnel Road with a visitation one hour prior. The Rev. Butch Stillwell will be officiating. Following the service there will be a reception for family at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 290 Old Haw Creek Road, Asheville, NC.
