Mary Harris Bush
March 27, 1933 ~ August 25, 2022
Born in:
Henderson Co., NC
Resided in:
Mills River, NC
Mary Harris Bush made it Home on Thursday, August 25, 2022. A native of Henderson County, Mary was the daughter of the late Samuel Morgan and Bonnie Williams Harris. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Artis A. Bush, Sr.
She is survived by her sons Artis A. Bush, Jr. (Lynn), of Hendersonville, and Steven Bush (Brenda), of Goodyear, AZ. She is also survived by a granddaughter, Tiffany Bush, of Goodyear.
Mary loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and she loved her family. She took pleasure in the care of her loved ones, often sacrificing personal comforts so that those she loved had more. Mary was a singer with a lovely voice and a desire to spread the Gospel in song. She was small in size but big in heart. Unassuming, but a force to be reckoned with. She’s the reason her sons are Christians today. Mary was loved and will be missed by those who knew her.
The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the Groce Funeral Home chapel at 1401 Patton Ave., Asheville. The Rev. Dennis Thurman will officiate. Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain. Her family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to acknowledge appreciation to The Landings of Mills River for the wonderful care and love extended while Mary was a resident. Also, to Four Seasons Hospice for their compassion and care. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Four Seasons Hospice in honor of Mary.
Well Mom – you’re finally Home! And don’t worry, we will see you soon!

David & I have memories that can never be taken from us when we remember Aunt Mary and her love for us. What a blessing she was in our lives, and a voice like an ‘angel’.
Find comfort in Gods word:
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”🕊
God bless each of you, David & Pennie
Dearest Bush Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of Mrs. Bush. I was blessed to spend some time with her at few holiday functions and she was a precious lady. Though I know she will be missed I praise the Lord she is now Home in Glory!
Artis, you have always been there and gave your mom not only assistance when she was in need but also your heart always. Losing your mom creates an emptiness that is only filled by knowing she is home. Smiling and singing. I pray God fills your emptiness with loving memories.
