Mary Jean Moore

Mary Jean Fisher Moore, 88, of Asheville, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at the Mars Hill Retirement Community. A native of Jackson Co., Mrs. Moore was a daughter of the late Eugene Edgar and Selma Green Fisher. Mrs. Moore worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency. She grew up in the Scott's Creek Baptist Church in Sylva, and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Asheville. Most recently she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, David R. Moore; a son, Joey Moore and his wife, Lisa Vierra-Moore, of Laurel Park; a granddaughter, Whitney Moore, of Asheville; and a sister, Barbara Vance, of Sylva. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rodney Hagans, Jr., the Rev. John Nelson, and the Rev. Lloyd Fish of Franklin officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.
