Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. Larry, Brenda, Sandra, some of my fondest childhood memories revolve around all of you and your mom and dad. They are replaying even now as I process the news. Your mom’s sharp wit…oh my goodness. Don’t mess with Mary Lee. I can still hear the creek of the spring on the screen door of your grandmother’s back porch and hear the buzz of the transformers down at the bottom of the drive. Sending hugs and love. You and your families are in our prayers.

  2. I am so. Very sorry, she will be missed but she is now walking the streets of gold and wouldn’t come back if she could.

  3. I cannot tell you how much Mary Lee meant to my family. She kept my daughter Kristi starting when she was a baby we could not have a better person. kristi was treated as one her grandkids. Our love and prayers for all of you.

    • Lots of wonderful memories!! Cutting bangs, pulling teeth, paper dolls and fudge rounds….these are memories that will last me past a lifetime! Mary Lee will be greatly missed and my love for her will never go away. My love and prayers for all that feel this loss.

  4. She was an amazing woman who cared for me as a child. Although I was very young, I remember her in such a warm
    And loving way.
I will never forget her cherry tree.
    God bless you all

  5. Sandra, Brenda and Larry,
Aunt Mary Lee was a constant loving presence in my life. She was there the day my Mom and I came home from the hospital when I was born. She was an integral part of many birthday, Christmas and Easter celebrations. On Summer picnics in the forest, family reunions in Madison County, and weekend spend the nights, she was part of what made those occasions special. Aunt Mary Lee sat up with me all night once during a severe asthma attack when I was little and pulled a nail out of my foot in a childhood mishap. She made the best lemonade!
I will always be grateful for her in our lives. She was a treasure.

  6. So sorry for your loss. Mary Lee was a fine lady and I know you will miss her greatly.

  7. What a beautiful celebration for MaryLee today. Just as she would have wanted it! MaryLee became my second Mother in 1962 when I met Brenda when we were freshman at Enka. We have been best friends since that day. Always great time up on Bennett road. The first thing I remember about going to her house was the red kitchen!! It was happy and bright. Many nights of sleepovers at her house and her saying “you girls get quiet in there”. That just made us giggle more no matter how hard we tried. If you spent the night on Friday then you woke up on Saturday and started helping with the Saturday chores… running the dust mop and shaking the rugs and dusting the furniture. You were one of the family for sure. Like my Mother she never had a dishwasher so as soon as your meal was over “us girls washed the dishes.” I remember she always had a cake baked it and for a late snack it was cake and a glass of cold milk that she probably took for the cow that morning. Oh how blessed to have such great memories. Whether at her house or Brenda was at my house on Sunday morning, we went to church at Bent Creek or Brownsview. No questions asked. Remember going to the ramp patch with Porter and MaryLee and us kids. She made my babies quilts when they were born – such treasures. On holidays and special occasions I would call her to tell her I loved her and we would giggle as she told me she loved me too. She was a great lady and yes I loved her very much. • So sorry 4 ur loss. Saw this last night on f/b obits. We knew her & Mr. Porter. We’re wondering just the other day if she was still alive. Porter & I were in service 2gether. Prayers 4 the family. God Bless. Rev. Everette Haney & Miss Sandra

  8. Larry so sorry for your loss my deepest condolenses May God comfort your heart as well as the family

  9. Mary Lee has always been so kind to me and all my family. She is the person we thought of when we mentioned Browns View Church. And, oh my, her quilting – being the force behind that quilting group of ladies for years. She brought the quilters all to visit my mom (Edith) near the end of mom’s life and helped me finish her quilts. Many of the Warren siblings and our children have keepsake quilts Mary Lee worked on. I loved our visits in her bright living room surrounded by all those family pictures. She loved and was loved by so many.

  10. Thinking of your family and praying for you and our church family who loved her so dearly. I know she is with God and we will see her again. Mary Lee was very special. Much love to your family. God Bless you all.
