Mary Lee Lusk Surrett

Mary Lee Lusk Surrett, 91, of 41 Martin Branch Road, Asheville, went home to be with her heavenly Father Friday, November 2, 2007, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. She had been surrounded by her church family in her last days. Mrs. Surrett was born in Buncombe County and was a daughter of the late Thomas and Flossie Giles Lusk. She was married to Silas Surrett who died in 2004, and was also preceded in death by a son, June Putnam and his wife, Linda, brothers, John, Reeves, and Marion Lusk and sisters, Eupha Bryant, Eva Lanning Poteet and Helen Penland. She was a member of Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters, Lula Putnam and Savannah Robertson; two granddaughters, Mary Ellen Stidham and Nevada Price; great-grandchildren Stephanie Christopher and Carol Ann Boyles; great-great-granddaughters, Julie Stidham and Helen Hoke; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Furman Wilson, Mark Bullman and Jack Webb officiating. Private burial will be at Paynes Chapel Cemetery on Sandy Mush. Her family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
