Mary Lou Rice West, 90, of Brucemont Circle, Asheville, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, in California.
A Madison Co. native, Mrs. West was the daughter of the late Jasper and Maude Bryan Rice. She was also preceded in death by her husband, F. Herbert West, who died in 1991; and sons, Herbert Gene West, and Tommy West.
She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pisgah View Memorial Park with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Adkisson officiating.
Her family will receive friends at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. an hour prior to the service.

Alberta, Stacey and Family, I loved her to pieces! She was so much fun and we enjoyed teasing together. Wish we could have seen her more often..but when we did we created great memories. Thanks for caring for her so lovingly these last few years. I will never forget her telling me she climbed up on her roof and cleaned her gutters at age 84!! Awesome gal..and I wull keep her in my heart forever.
Mary Lou was a great friend to our family and especially to our Mom Betty Jean Wynne, their friendship beginning as they taught preschoolers together at Grace Baptist Church many years ago. Over the years we have shared joys and sorrows together and our family feels like we have lost a family member in Mary Lou. She was a very sweet lady and we will miss her immensely.
