Mary Lucille Allen, 89, of Arden, died on Friday, September 9, 2011, at St. Joseph Campus.
A native of Henderson Co., she was a daughter of the late Soloman L. and Mary McCullough Reese. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Herbert C. Allen, who died in 2002; her sister, Alene Shroat; and her grandson, David Lushbaugh.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Biltmore United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Tera A. Taylor and husband Ernest; grandson, Dale Stafford and wife Amanda; great-granddaughters, Jessica Stafford and Jessica Jones; step-great-granddaughter, Brandy Barnes, and her daughter, Makenzie; and brother-in-law, Bob Shroat.
A graveside service for Mrs. Allen will be at 3:00 p.m. on Monday at Patty's Chapel Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Reeves officiating.
Mrs. Allen will lie in state on Sunday afternoon at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave.

I am glad that I was able to share many good times with Lucille for a little over five years at Heather Glen. My sympathy to the family, and I will always remember her with love and a smile.
I will always remember Ms. Allen as a very courageous and loving person. I’m thankful I had the privilege to get to know her. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
