Mary Martha Mitchell Sexton, 78, of Alexander, passed away Thursday, April 4, 2024.
Born December 28, 1945, in Yancey Co., Mary was a daughter of the late Guy Kent Mitchell and Nyder Bryant Mitchell. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Edward “Brooks” Sexton.
Surviving are her daughters, Carla Reaume, Diana Davis and Judy Ball; son, Ricky Shook; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Maude Adams.
The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 11 at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue, with the funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.
