Mary McAbee Ownbey

Fairview ~ Mary McAbee Ownbey, 83, of 184 Garren Creek Road went home to be with her Lord God on April 1, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Emery and Leah Wright McAbee. She was married for 57 years to the late Floyd W. Ownbey, who went to meet God in 1998. Mrs. Ownbey was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Edward Houston Ownbey and his wife, Joann of Hendersonville and Philip Mack Ownbey of Fairview; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and twelve step great-grandchildren. Mary and Floyd loved and cared for many children over the years. Graveside services for Mrs. Ownbey will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charles Clark officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road.
