Mary Raby Brown

Mrs. Brown was born in Macon County, was a daughter of the late James M. and Inda Corbin Raby and was married to vivien H. 'Slick' Brown who died April 22, 1998. She received her B.S. and Masters Degrees from Western Carolina University and taught for 35 years at Sand Hill Elementary School. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and of Acton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by a daughter, Vivian Tolbert of Hendersonville; a son, James M. Brown of Candler; two sisters, Agnes Calloway of Highlands and Edna Dalton of Franklin; and three grandchildren, Melanie Blosser, Alex Tolbert, and Ashli Brown.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Acton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Hacklander officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority.

Her family will receive friends 7-8:30 pm Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home where Mrs. Brown will remain until being placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
