Mary Rose Courtney, 93, formerly of 6 Delaware Avenue, Asheville, died Tuesday, January 30, 2001, in Knoxville, TN.

Mrs. Courtney was born in Philadelphia, PA, and was a daughter of the late Matthew and Catherine Murphy Boland. She was married to the late Joseph F. Courtney. She was a former secretary at Grove Park Inn and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mary Seay of Knoxville and Kathryn Penland of Swannanoa; one brother, Joseph F. Courtney, Jr. of Fullerton, CA; eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm Friday at Green Hills Cemetery with the Rev. Fr. John Pagel officiating.

Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8 pm Thursday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
