Mary Sweeney

Mary F. Jackson Sweeney, 84, of Portland, CT, formerly of Asheville, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. A native of Asheville, she and her husband raised their family in Connecticut. Upon her retirement from the State of Connecticut, they moved to Asheville, where she was an active member in the Order of the Daughters of the King in the Episcopal Church. Mary returned to Connecticut four years ago to live with her family in Portland. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Sweeney; and two sons, Dennis F. and Paul J. Sweeney. Mary is survived by her daughters, Jo Ann Sweeney, and Carol Sweeney Wisinski; son-in-law, Frank M. Wisinski; daughter-in-law, Vicki Rodgers Sweeney; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends whom she held dear. Her family will meet at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. on Saturday for a private family viewing prior to a graveside service at 1:00 p.m. at Green Hills Cemetery.
