Mattie was my former mother-in-law, but she was so much more than that. She was a friend to me always. She was always ready to welcome anyone in, and treated everyone equally. I lived in her home at the beginning of my first marriage, and we grew as close as mother and daughter. When Cheryl and Chris were born, she was always there for us. After I married Bobby, she welcomed him in her home. With the birth of Cheryl’s daughter, Chloe, and Chris’s daughter, Lexie, Mattie became part of a 5 generation chain. She had strong family ties, and a strong will to live. She fought the cancer, and in the end, won the victory. She is now at peace with the Lord. We will all miss her, but she left a wonderful example for all of us to try to follow. I loved her beyond words… Kim Staton Truelove

Mattie always had a smile and laughter that would lift spirits. Its difficult to express feelings since I grew up around her and have known her all my life. There was always something for the children going on at Bess and ‘Buns’ home. Especially when most of the cousins came in to visit. A fun time for sure. I will miss her. My prayers and condolences to Bill and the children. I am sorry I was unable to attend the service. May God Bless.
Mattie was my Mamaw and I will miss her very much. She was such a wonderful and caring person to everyone that knew her. I am so proud to have know and been the grandson of such a wonderful lady and will forever remember the wonderful memories of the times we got to spend together. I am now happy now knowing that she is in a better place and all the sickness has been healed and hope that I may be so lucky as to one day see her again in Heaven because I will never forget my Mamaw.
I can’t even begin to express my sympathay to the family of ‘Aunt Mattie’. I can’t think of a better person in this world. She was always there to help anyone in need. Growing up and through out my childhood I can always remember Aunt Mattie always being there. Although there is no blood relation to her an myself, she was always my Aunt Mattie. I can always remember her sweet tea. Her strong will, huge heart and smile will FOREVER be a part of me. She will be truly missed.
Mike and I met Jim and Mattie several years ago when we attended the same church. They were such dear people and we visited their home on a couple of occasions and they made us feel right at home. It is good to know Mattie is with Jesus and will never know pain again. And to know we’ll see her again soon. Our sincerest sympathies go to the surviving family members. Please contact us, Jim, if you have a need that we can help you with, OK? Our prayers are with you and God will see you through this time of sorrow. God bless! From, Mike and Sharon Woon
I pray God comforts you all with His sweet Holy Spirit during this
time of grief!
