Maude Nanney “Honey” Anderson, 99, of Biltmore Forest, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully, on Wednesday, November 16, 2005.
Born on May 14, 1906 in Union Mills, NC, she grew up in Jefferson City, TN and was a daughter of the late John P. and Mary Lynch Nanney. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John B. Anderson, Sr., to whom she was married in 1935 at First Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN.
Mrs. Anderson attended Carson Newman College and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, AAUW, Lanier Club, Christian Women’s Club, past president of Opti-Mrs., president of Aston Park Hospital Auxilary and a member of Buncombe County Medical Society Auxiliary. She was a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church and, at the time of her death, was a member of Arden Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include three children, Mary Sue & John Temple of Knoxville, TN, Janet & Don Creasman of Tyler, TX and J.B. & Cathie Anderson of Asheville, NC; eleven grandchildren, John & Lisa Temple, Terri & Steve Peters, Susan & David Forsberg, Steve & Jill Temple, Scott & Lauren Creasman, Kelly & Jason Buckner, Ashley & Chris Odom, Jennifer Anderson, Stephanie & Frank Laughlin, Grace Anderson and Kate Anderson; 21 great-grandchildren, Holly & Nick Temple, Trent, Tatum & Tanner Peters, Rachel Taylor & Chandler Hale, Gunnar & Kristin Forsberg, Christopher Temple, Elisabeth, Kristy, Michelle & Lindsey Creasman, Holden, Hunter & Blake Buckner, Austin, Allison & Abby Odom; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Anderson and Grace Anderson; many loved nieces and nephews, Mary Nell Greer Johnson, Jim & Libby Hutchins Scruggs, Bobby & Cathy Hutchins, John & Kay Hutchins, Mary Nell & Dale Biehler, Larry & Becky Brown, Mary Jean & Joe Schariter, Jack Nanney, III, Jim & Linda Nanney, Courtney & Kitten Nanney, Betty Cook, Jimmy Jones, Chip & Judy Anderson, Charlotte Anderson Straney, Jim & Ellen Anderson, Guy B. Phillips, Terilynne Petersen, Pat Phillips Rucker, Donald & Lynnda Anderson, Arthur & Darlene Anderson, Jr., David & Rita Anderson, Charles Garrett & Janice Anderson and Dottie & Randy Hayes.
Family and friends will gather for a viewing at Groce Funeral Home at 1401 Patton Avenue at 12:30 pm on Saturday. A graveside service will be at 1:30 pm at Green Hills Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 3:00 pm Saturday at Arden Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Chris Yates officiating. Her family will receive friends following the church service.

Honey was a beautiful woman, shining the Light of Christ’s love on all privileged enough to cross her path. Now she is in her full glory with her Savior! Praying all love and comfort for her family!

We are sorry to read about ‘Honey’s’ passing. I was privileged to meet her just a few short times but was very impressed by her genuine kindness, wisdom and wonderful sense-of-humor. She will be sorely missed by all. Please accecpt our sincere condolences.
Dear Ones: We are in California visiting our Daughter and family. We have many happy memories of being with Maude. Loved her so much. Let us not mourn what we have lost but rejoiced that she lived.
