Maureen Blake Walsh

Maureen Blake Walsh, 90, passed away on March 8, 2025.

A native of Seattle, WA, Maureen was a daughter of the late James and Mary Margaret O’Connell Blake. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, David Walsh.

As the daughter of a Coast Guard officer, she moved often during her childhood, but spent seven years in New Orleans, LA. Her family later relocated to the Boston area, and she graduated from Northeastern University with a major in English and attended graduate school at Tufts University. She was known as an avid reader, passing that love on to her children.

She and her husband raised their children in Quincy, MA, where they lived for more than 30 years. In that time, she worked at the National Labor Relations Board in Boston. She and her husband retired to the Botany Woods neighborhood of Asheville in the late 1990s, where they lived for almost a quarter century. She had resided at The Laurels of Hendersonville retirement home in recent years.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Walsh, of Hendersonville, NC; son, Stephen Walsh, and daughter-in-law, Jane Huth, of Baltimore, MD; and grandchildren, Noah Walsh, Sarah Walsh, and Benjamin Walsh.

The service for Mrs. Walsh will be held at a later date.
