Maxine Hall Reed

Maxine Hall Reed, 92, formerly of Erie, PA died on June 9, 2015 at Givens Health Center, Asheville, NC. Maxine was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the daughter of the late Arthur E. Hall and Lillie Stein Hall. She graduated from Ann Arbor High School and the University of Michigan. She moved to Hendersonville, NC in 1990 where she resided until moving to Givens Estates in Asheville 10 years ago. Maxine was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hendersonville. She was an avid needle crafter specializing in knitting, quilting and sewing. She also enjoyed playing bridge. Maxine is survived by her husband of 70 years, Karl Reed, her son Arthur (Suzanne) Reed of Silver Spring, MO, and daughters Helen (Fred Jennes) Reed of Greeley, CO and Rebecca (Steve Yalisove) Reed of Ann Arbor, MI. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren Alexander Jennes; and Reed, Samara and Malia Yalisove. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ellen (William) Edmonds. A memorial service was held at the Pulliam Chapel of Givens Estates in Asheville on Saturday, July 11 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place in Erie Cemetery on October 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be sent to the Givens Estates Resident Assistance Fund, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803, or Four Seasons Compassion for Life, Flat Rock, NC. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
