Melba Geraldine Mashburn

Melba Geraldine Lewis Mashburn, 87, died Thursday, October 6, 2005, at Aston Park Health Care Center. Mrs. Mashburn was born in Madison County and was a daughter of the late William Arthur Lewis, Sr. and Runie Bryan Ebbs Lewis. She was married to Clyde J. Mashburn who died in 2003 and was also preceded in death by a brother William Arthur “Buddy” Lewis, Jr. She retired in 1983 from Educational Lumber Company and was a member of Abernethy United Methodist Church. She is survived by sisters Katy Lou Bridges and Catherine Burnette, both of Asheville, a brother Jerome “Jerry” Lewis of Fairview and eight nieces and nephews, Sharon Green, Carolyn Rogers, Becky Lewis, Linda Shiek, Lewis Bridges and David, Jeff and Kelly Lewis. A funeral service will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry R. “Rusty” Inman officiating. Burial will be at Green Hills Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and suggest that memorials be made to Abernethy United Methodist Church Air Conditioner Fund, 1418 Patton Avenue, Asheville, NC 28806.
